My Current Favorite Products from Corro

Our horses are the most important thing to us. We want the best for them and will do anything to find those products that suit their needs. My horse, JT, happens to be super sensitive and, honestly, quite picky. I am definitely someone who finds what I like and sticks with them. Most items in my grooming tote and tack trunk are things I have used for months or years and I fully believe in them. Today, I’m going to share a few of my favorite products from Corro. Corro is a one-stop online tack store for all of your needs. Not only do they have my favorite products and brands, their autoship option for any product is amazing. I never run out of any my necessities with autoship. Check out my link here to get 10% off your order!

Bathing

  1. EQyss Premier Equine Shampoo: The first time I tried this shampoo was a few months ago, and I absolutely love it. This shampoo is super gentle on their skin and moisturizes and conditions their coat. JT isn’t typically a horse to get really dirty (unlike Floyd), but this shampoo picks up every bit of caked-on dirt on his coat and rinses clean with no residue. I use this shampoo all over his body (mane, coat, tail, legs) and it easily picks up stains on his white socks. Not only does it get him nice and clean, the smell is amazing too.

  2. Exhibitor’s Quic Black Shampoo and Exhibitor’s Quic Silver Shampoo: Most people know what these shampoos do, but if not, they are specialized shampoos that intensify the shine and depth of their coat, whether it’s black/bay or white/grey. I use these shampoos on the white on JT’s legs (Quic Silver) and his dark tail/mane (Quic Black).

  3. Epona Tiger’s Tongue: This was introduced to me a few months ago in Ocala and it’s awesome! It is a sponge with a more coarse texture than the typical foam sponge so it easily wipes away dirt and sweat with a lot less elbow grease! I love to use this to replace a curry when bathing. I find it creates a nice lather and does its job, but is still gentle on JT’s coat.

Brushing

  1. Betty’s Best Striphair Gentle Original Groomer: This product is great for shedding, especially at this time of year, but I have discovered it is a secret weapon for getting poultice off their legs! If you didn’t know, poultice is challenging to remove, especially in a rush! Betty’s Striphair makes that job so much easier. It’s gentle, flexible, and easy to use.

  2. Carr, Day & Martin Canter Mane & Tail Conditioner: If you’ve followed me for a while, you know how much I love this product. It’s light and leaves no residue, keeps the tail soft and detangled for days, and leaves a beautiful shine. For quick daily tacking I’ll either spray it on the brush or directly in JT’s tail before brushing. On a grooming “spa” day I’ll spray it in his tail and leave it in for five minutes before brushing it out. This allows time for a deeper conditioning treatment.

  3. Equicare Flysect Super-7 Repellent Spray: A good fly spray that’s effective on pests, but gentle on your horse can be tough to find, until now!! Equicare fly spray is gentle on JT’s skin, repels flies like crazy, and smells great. I have tried a lot of popular brands of fly spray and they have either burned JT’s skin or they just didn’t keep the flies away. Equicare Flysect has lived up to its reputation. It’s the only one I use now.

  4. Cowboy Magic Green Spot Remover: Not only is this my favorite spot remover, it was also ranked as Corro’s #1 pick for spot removers! When I had Leo (a very light grey), I used this stuff constantly, and it never disappointed. I definitely tried quite a bit of spot removers, but this product was always in my grooming tote. It works wonders for any grey or sock/stocking. Cowboy Magic Green Spot Remover does the job, smells great, and leaves no residue. On top of that, their customer service is always impeccable.

Care

  1. Uptite Poultice: With poultice, you want something thick enough to do its job, but still easy to remove. This product is incredibly easy to apply, doesn’t stain clothes (oops!), and is show compliant. After any jumping lesson JT gets a good amount of poultice on his legs and is quilt wrapped overnight.

  2. Absorbine Magic Cushion: All I can say is, protect your horse. Magic Cushion relieves hoof heat/soreness throughout the sole and frog of your horse’s hoof. After a long jumping lesson or show day, JT always gets magic cushioned and vet-wrapped. It’s these extra steps that keep your horse in tiptop shape, health and comfort.

Treats

JT is crazy picky when it comes to treats. He absolutely hates peppermints, but surprisingly likes them with molasses, and hates any out of the ordinary treats. He has to sniff every treat we give him, EVERY TIME, to be sure it is acceptable. I’m still searching for more treat brands he likes, but these four treats are his absolute favorites.

  1. German Minty Muffins

  2. Manna-Pro Bite Size Nuggets

  3. Stud Muffin Horse Treats

  4. Uncle Jimmy’s Squeezy Buns

For the Rider

  1. Dreamers & Schemers Socks: I have talked about this brand so much, but these socks are absolutely amazing. In my 4 years of having them, not one sock has ripped. They are durable, not too thin and not too thick, and super adorable! I am absolutely obsessed with them and I’m constantly on the lookout for their latest quirky and cute prints.
